For years, scientist, theorists and engineers have been working on a computer aided technology that can create an artificial environment that is presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. Tech giants Google and Apple have also shown keen interest in developing this technology.
If rumors are to be believed, it is noted that Google is developing a new virtual reality headset for smartphones. Google first introduced the world to virtual-reality with its low-cost Cardboard headset. However, the tech giant is now looking to add extra support for the technology to its Android operating system for an enhanced performance. The new headset will feature better sensors, lenses and a more solid plastic casing if it releases this year.
On a similar note, Apple is also rumored to be developing a product that showcased virtual-reality. While the company hasn’t confirmed the news, reports suggest that Apple has increased its staffing for its augmented and virtual reality divisions. The tech leader has also invested in startups that specialize in related technologies. In addition, Apple Stores have recently started selling a product that turns an iPhone into a virtual reality headset. While Apple has also filed for patents, they haven’t confirmed the news of a VR initiative.
So, do the tech giants really got some interesting updates into virtual reality? Well, only time will tell!
