It was just another boring Monday afternoon at work. I was sitting behind my desk, forcing myself not to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations while doing my healthy dose of daily stalking on Facebook, until I saw it:
“In pictures: Take a Look at the Cars of Dubai’s Princess”
With 35,000 likes, 2,700 comments and 1,300 shares, who wouldn’t want to click? I clicked on the post expecting to see a car collection that screams luxury and extravagance; prestigious cars that will force me to stare and say “someday” while I wallow in self-pity. But no, all was there were pictures of her Royal Highness Mahra inside, in front or on top of different means of transportation, including a horse. Isn’t that just lovely? I believe there’s a word for this and I believe that word is “clickbate”.
