Panattoni Bread

Panattoni Bread

A friend of mine requested that i post the recipe of one kind of bread called 'Panattoni Bread' and thus I've done a bit of research to find out what exactly it is and where it comes from.

Panattoni Bread comes from Italy and it's mainly made in Christmas. So simply put, Panattoni is an Italian Christmas bread filled with dried fruits and raisins! Yum!

- 2 sachets yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup soft butter
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 4 1/2 to 5 cups flour
- 1/2 cup raisins or sultanas
- 1/2 cup chopped candied lemon peel
- 2 tbsp. nuts (hazelnut, walnut, almond)

Making this bread is very easy. All you have to do is mix all ingredients together except the fruit. Let rise in warm place until double in size.
Form 2 round balls. Place in cake pan. Let rise until double in size again!
Pour chopped fruit in the center. Cover with dough.
Let rise again and bake at 350f/180c degrees for 35-40 minutes.

The hardest part is waiting so many times for the dough to rise and double in size!
