Jim Carrey has been slapped with a wrongful death lawsuit by his late ex-girlfriend Cathriona White’s mother Brigid Sweetman on Tuesday morning. According to the lawsuit by Mrs. Sweetman, the actor infected her daughter with multiple sexually transmitted diseases and that her suicide was the result of her diagnosis. Mrs. Sweetman also alleges that her daughter died from the illegally-obtained prescription drugs that Carrey gave her.
You will recall that White was found dead last September 2015 and near her body were pill bottles labelled “Arthur King,” which is said to be Carrey’s pseudonym. Upon investigation, it was found out that she ingested deadly amounts of prescription drugs like Ambien, Propranolol and Oxycodone.
In the complaint against the actor, it was stated that Carrey infected White with three types of STDs and even misled her about the symptoms of the diseases. When White confronted him, he manipulated and pressured her that she acquiesced to keep quiet about the infections. However, Carrey still continued to pressure her, which resulted to her suicide.
Now, White’s mother says she will drop her lawsuit against the actor if he reveals to the public the result of the STD test that he underwent under the name Jose Lopez last January 28, 2013. According to Sweetman, the actor and his attorneys told the public that he never had and never tested positive for STDs.
This wrongful death lawsuit is actually the second one Carrey received. The first one was from White’s estranged husband Mark Burton.
