Jim Carrey Calls Sweetman’s Wrongful Death Accusation Baseless

Jim Carrey is finally speaking up about the wrongful death charges made against him by Brigid Sweetman, the mother of his late girlfriend Cathriona White.

According to the lawsuit filed by Sweetman last October, Carrey gave her daughter prescription drugs and three sexually transmitted diseases. She also alleged that the actor was verbally abusive to her daughter before her death in last year.

Now, Carrey has a response to her accusations. Just this week, the actor’s lawyer filed a motion which states that Sweetman is merely trying to rake in some cash from the “suicide-death of her long-estranged daughter.” All Sweetman’s accusations were made “for the sole purpose of harassing, embarrassing and humiliating Carrey in an effort to shame him into an unmerited settlement and should be stricken in their entirety.”

The motion also pointed out Sweetmen’s accusation as baseless and that she has not relationship with White at the time of her death since the mother and daughter had been estranged for many years.

With the motion filed on Monday, Carrey hopes that the lawsuit would be dismissed altogether.
