Seasoned actress Meryl Streep graces Vogue for the first time at 62! As you can probably guess, she is the oldest person to take Vogue’s front cover. But exactly why Vogue found a reason to make her cover girl just now is beyond me. They could have made her so years ago!
Anyhow whether she’s the oldest woman to grace Vogue is not an issue for Meryl. In fact, she pokes fun at herself “I was joking with the ladies earlier. And I told them I was probably the oldest person ever to be on the cover of Vogue.”
However, the 62-year-old award-winning actress couldn’t be more dazzling on the cover! The fashion magazine dubs her as America’s Greatest Actress.
The actress talked about her new movie “Iron Lady” with the magazine. But she also talked about how she thought her career was over at the age of 40. She said, “Once women passed childbearing age they could only be seen as grotesque on some level. Women whose usefulness had passed.” But she was wrong. Her career became strong as ever after reaching that age.
And now with her superb portrayal of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in “Iron Lady” , there are rumors that she’s in for another Best Actress award at the Oscars next year.
Meryl’s Vogue issue will be in newsstands on January 20. Don’t forget to grab a copy!
